Canterbury Independent Living Forum

The Independent Living Forum is a great way to meet other residents and to keep up to fate with what's going on in sheltered housing. The forum gives residents the chance to discuss issues that affect sheltered housing and the services they receive.

Who attends the meetings?

We have residents from each scheme who attend meetings. If you'd like to come to a meeting please speak to your scheme manager or complete our online application form.

  • Working with the council to ensure that funds allocated for sheltered housing are spent in the most effective and beneficial way
  • Giving sheltered housing residents the opportunity to raise concerns with relevant council staff
  • Encouraging joint working between schemes to provide events and activities for residents
Who can attend?
  • Each sheltered scheme will nominate two representatives to attend the Sheltered Housing Forum
  • Council staff will also attend meetings to facilitate the debate, to take minutes and to answer questions that residents may have, but they will not have a vote.

Meetings will be held twice per year. Canterbury City Council will arrange venues and provide transport (where required) to and from meetings.

Minutes of meetings will be posted on the noticeboards of each scheme no later than two weeks after each meeting has taken place.
