Planned Maintenance Manager

£35,536 to £43,753 per annum

(New pay scales are under negotiation)

East Kent Housing is the first ‘Super ALMO’ in the country, managing over 17,000 properties on behalf of four local authorities. We’re an ambitious organisation and our mission is to deliver ‘a fresh approach for a better housing service in East Kent’.

We want to strengthen our asset management function through the appointment to this post, together with the additional posts of M&E Manager, Surveyor, Electrical Surveyor, Maintenance Inspector (Mechanical), Maintenance Inspectors and Asset Administrator.

This role is based in Dover but the postholder is expected to be mobile and to work in all four Council offices.

Main Duties:

  • Manage a team of Surveyors and monitor external contractors and consultants to ensure that East Kent Housing fulfils its contractual obligations to its client councils by delivering planned and cyclical maintenance programmes to quality, time and budget.
  • Analyse and interpret stock condition data to produce accurate planned maintenance programmes and efficient contract management of council managed budgets.

Essential Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of building maintenance and contracting relationships
  • Good understanding of staff management and team building
  • Comprehensive knowledge of European and UK contract law and large-scale, multi-organisation procurement practices
  • Proven understanding of direct and indirect budget management in a public sector or large-scale private sector organisation
  • Sound understanding of compliance with statutory landlord obligations
  • Experience of managing and motivating teams and successfully tackling under-performance
  • Experience of procuring maintenance contracts and managing the performance of contractors
  • Building / Surveying qualification, HNC / Chartered qualification or equivalent or a commitment to achieve the HNC. EKH is committed to funding the cost of this training
