Our Mission
A fresh approach for a better
housing service in East Kent.
Our Values
Building values and related acceptable
behaviours into the core of every part of the organisation will be
the basis for developing East Kent Housing’s culture. These values
and behaviours derive from the mission statement and will be
used as the basis for challenge and growth as an organisation, both
internally and externally.
Using the phrases and thoughts
provided by staff, the following values and behaviours have
been adopted by East Kent Housing:
1. Approachable
This means we will:
- encourage tenants and leaseholders to tell us what they think
about our services
- adopt communication styles that are appropriate and wherever
possible friendly and informal
- use plain English and avoid using jargon
- be clear to tenants who is dealing with them and how they can
be contacted
- listen sympathetically to our customers
- provide local access to services
2. Professional
This means we will:
- ensure that staff have the right skills to do the job
- be clear about standards expected of our staff and tenants
- make decisions that are fair and consistent
- keep tenants informed about decisions that affect their homes
and estates
- take personal responsibility for sorting out problems
- support our colleagues and encourage learning
3. Trustworthy
This means that we will:
- do what we say we will do
- not make promises we cannot keep
- be honest when we get things wrong or make mistakes
- be open about our decisions and the way we conduct our
business
4. Respectful
This means that we will:
- treat all tenants fairly and equality regardless of their
background and life styles
- respect the diversity of the communities that we serve
- treat people with courtesy and respect
- respect the confidentiality of our customers
5. Progressive
This means that we will:
- strive to keep East Kent Housing unique
- be open minded to new ideas and ways of doing things
- learn from what others have done better than us
- embrace creativity and innovation
