How does the Board work?
The East Kent Housing board meets
monthly to discuss and keep an eye on how East Kent Housing is
performing. They will respond to and look at information provided
from the local Area Boards as well as receive regular reports about
repairs, complaints and spending.
The board meetings will be
chaired by independent member, Helen Buller, who was voted as the
chair of the board. The vice chair is tenant member, Lynne Sims
from Shepway.
How do the board make sure that East
Kent Housing is working?
One of the responsibilities of the
board will be to make sure East Kent Housing is doing what it was
set up to do. The board will make sure that all annual reports and
accounts are published for all to see, as well as provide regular
updates to tenants, leaseholders and your local council.
Who makes sure that East Kent Housing
delivers on what was promised? Ultimately, it is your council’s
responsibility to make sure that the new organisation delivers good
quality services and improvements to you. However, the board will
act as the ‘eyes and ears’ and oversee the day to day running of
your council housing services.
What happens if East Kent Housing
does not deliver a good service?
Each council would have the option to
withdraw from the arrangement but you would be fully consulted
before any decision was taken.
How can the board know what matters
locally?
There will also be local Area Boards,
made up of tenants and leaseholders and local councillors, who will
meet regularly and ensure the local needs of tenants in your
council area are met. These Area Boards will submit ideas, feedback
and projects to the main board to consider. Visit the Area Board section to find out more.
