Designated person
If you are not satisfied with the way East Kent Housing has dealt with your complaint, you can ask for your complaint to be independently reviewed by a ‘designated person’. A designated person could be your local Councillor or Member of Parliament.
You can look up the details of your local Councillor here:
- Canterbury tenants
- Dover tenants
- Shepway tenants
- Thanet tenants
A designated person will only consider your complaint once it has been through our two-stage complaints procedure. You will not be able to refer your complaint directly to the Housing Ombudsman unless a period of 8 weeks has passed since the end of our two-stage complaints procedure.
The designated person may ask East Kent Housing to reconsider its response, or (if they feel your case is strong enough) refer the complaint to the Housing Ombudsman themselves.
